![]() Andrew Ferns is President of Ferns Entertainment Inc. and a partner in Ferns Productions Inc. He brings a diverse background of practical experience to Ferns’ operations. Born in 1974 in Toronto, educated at Upper Canada College and Royal St. George’s College, Andrew is also a graduate of Halifax’s Dalhousie University and Mount Royal College in Calgary. After four summers at Toronto’s PS Production Services and PS Lightsource, Andrew worked on various crews before joining Cinemedic Productions in 2001. In 2003, Andrew moved to the West Coast. As a Production Manager and Line Producer for Vancouver’s Insight Film Studios and Shavick Entertainment, he helped produce their ongoing slate of MOWs and Feature Films. |
Some of Andrew’s dramatic credits include: Pursued, Zolar, Snowman’s Pass, Killer Bash, Fatal Reunion, Deadly Skies, Brotherhood IV, Criminal Intent, Captive Hearts and Canes.
Among his extensive documentary credits are NY Festival’s ‘Best Docudrama’ Secret Files of the Inquisition, a mini-series for Vision TV/PBS and the Gemini nominated Discovery Channel Canada series, Human Wildlife: The Life That Lives On Us. Andrew produced the Australia/Canada co-production of a four-part mini-series, Captain Cook: Obsession and Discovery in association with Film Australia and Cook Films, for History Television Canada, ABC Australia, New Zealand’s Prime and Arte in France and Germany. Captain Cook won the Gemini Award for Best History Program and the Leo Award for Best Documentary Series. ![]() ![]() ![]() Andrew’s next production was the multi-part mini-series, Darwin’s Brave New World, again in co-production with Australia for CBC and ABC in association with Arte, which won the Silver Dragon at the China Dragon Awards.
Andrew co-wrote The Dark Ones a supernatural nautical feature film currently in development; and a pilot for a continuing multi platform series titled Distrikt centred around the life behind the nightlife of a downtown club scene. Andrew is currently writing a three part docudrama series, The Secret Voyage of Sir Francis Drake and producing a WWI feature film, Four Saints. |
